New York - A review
As my time in London is rapidly drawing to a close, it is probably time I filed my New York review, so here it is.

Red State, Blue State
Almost everyone I spoke to in the States, in two of the most liberal cities in the country — from bartenders to members of country/hip-hop fusion bands (a genre that, should it ever gain any success will no doubt be dubbed hick-hop) to homeless gay Irishmen — was at pains to make it clear what an evil man they thought W was.

San Francisco - A summary
In many ways San Francisco is very like Melbourne. They are both bayside cities with temperate climates, no particularly exciting tourist attractions (OK, SF has Alcatraz but that is about it), but a very pleasant, laid-back, comfortable atmosphere.

Days 3 - 7
Unfortunately my time in San Francisco is already drawing to a close. As you might guess I have spent a fair chunk of the last few days at concerts and in record shops.

Day 2
I think I just died and went to heaven. I just spent an entire day in a CD shop and still didn’t manage to completely explore it.

Around the world in 50ish days - Day 1
So, here I am in the US of A. The first thing that struck me as I went through immigration at LAX was how many employees there were.

Allah help us
Umm… Well, this is just a little bit embarrasing. I have spent the last 36 hours locked in emergency mettings of the executive committee of Efuwob (Earthlings for a Universe without Bush). We were anticipating there would be at least a couple months of legal battles before Dubya stole this election.

Congratulations
Well done, America. Record voter turn out. You might get the hang of this democracy thing one of these days. You’re almost there. Just one, small issue.

Not good
The vote is 197 to 133 in favour of Bush. Things are not looking good. I can console myself with the fact that most of the states for Bush are in the middle of the US. That was to be expected.

RED SOX
THE RED SOX WON THE WORLD SERIES. As a long time Boston fan this makes me extremely happy. To see them win so emphatically after the close call wiith the Yankees is euphoric.
