I agree with the review. It’s best approached via the Beta’s output, ie. with an awareness that anything and everything can happen and will be included, resulting in perplexity and occasional annoyance. But this beguiling little record is often quite beautiful, and well worth sticking with - easier to listen to, if truth be told, than the Beta Band’s first (proper) album.
Since this he’s made a great album with The Aliens called “Astronomy For Dogs”, which is both more straightfoward and still pleasantly odd.
